SnapClean Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 3, 2026

SnapClean is a browser extension that lets you capture screenshots of web pages, annotate them, and export them as image or PDF files.

Short version

SnapClean does not collect, sell, or transmit any of your data to the developer or to any third party. Processing happens locally on your device. The single exception is a destination you choose yourself: if you set Google Drive as the save location, your exported file is uploaded to your own Google Drive account — never anywhere else.

What SnapClean accesses, and why

When — and only when — you explicitly start a capture, SnapClean accesses the content of the current tab in order to take the screenshot you asked for. During a full-page capture it temporarily scrolls the page and hides floating elements so the stitched image is clean; the page is restored afterwards.

Screenshots you take are held in the extension's memory and, if you use the History feature, stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB) on your own device, limited to the most recent 50 captures. You can delete them at any time from the History panel. Uninstalling the extension removes them.

Optional: saving to your Google Drive

If you select "Google Drive" as the save destination in the editor, SnapClean asks you to sign in with your Google account and uploads the exported file into a folder named "SnapClean" in your own Google Drive. SnapClean uses Google's limited drive.file permission: it can only see and access files and folders it created itself — it cannot browse, read, download, or modify anything else in your Drive. The developer never receives, sees, or stores your files or your Google sign-in credentials; sign-in and upload happen directly between your browser and Google. If you never select Google Drive, this feature stays completely inactive and nothing is uploaded anywhere.

What SnapClean never does

Permissions

The permissions SnapClean requests (such as access to the active tab and the ability to run on the sites you visit) exist solely so the screenshot features can work on whichever page you choose to capture. They are only exercised in response to your explicit capture action.
